Culminating Project
Overview
You will carry out a statistical study on a topic or issue of significance that requires the integration and application of the expectations of this course. You will pose a problem whose solution would require the organization and analysis of a large amount of data.

- propose a hypothesis about a set of data;
- research and collect the data;
- analyze the data; and
- present your findings in a written report and presentation.

Your project should include most (if not all) of the following criteria:
You are expected to submit a written report containing all of your work including any data/information stored in computer files.
Also, you must do an oral presentation of your report to the rest of the class and critique other students’ presentations.
The timeline below shows the deadlines for each of the process stages in the production of your report.
- Locate, organize and summarize large amounts of primary and/or secondary quantitative data.
- Use the internet or other sources to locate data.
- Use software (e.g. spreadsheets) to organize and facilitate the manipulation and retrieval of large amounts of data.
- Represent data graphically.
- Compute measures of one variable and two variable statistics, and make statements about data within the set.
- Compare data to common distributions.

The process outlined above will form your rough work and will need to be written up and submitted electronically at each deadline. Your final report can be shaped by your submissions.
