MDM4U Culminating Project
Your Problem: Plan of Action
This submission should be a one or two page summary containing:
1. A paragraph describing the purpose and focus of your statistics project.
2. A paragraph describing why you have chosen this topic.
3. A main topic question and hypothesis.
4. A paragraph describing where you will retrieve (or attempt to retrieve) this data.
If you plan to do a survey:
1. A paragraph describing the purpose and focus of your statistics project.
2. A paragraph describing why you have chosen this topic.
3. A main topic question and hypothesis.
- You should be as specific as possible. This could be something you believe is true and would like to attempt to prove, or it can be a broad question that you would like to research to find the answer.
- Chapter 9 in the textbook is focused on the culminating project, so you may refer to it for guidance.
4. A paragraph describing where you will retrieve (or attempt to retrieve) this data.
- You may use secondary data from places such as Statistics Canada. Look at your source to ensure that you can actually find this data at that particular source.
- You may use primary data by creating a survey to collect the data yourself.
- You may decide to use both primary and secondary data.
- You need to show that you have considered the following; sample size, bias, ease of data collection, any time concerns.
If you plan to do a survey:
- Submit your proposed survey questions. (Make sure you are attempting to decrease the level of bias in your questions).
- Submit an outline of exactly where and when you will carry out the survey.
